When the session collaboration feature is enabled for a remote desktop, you can invite other users to join an existing remote desktop session, or you can join a collaborative session when you receive an invitation from another user.
  • USB autoconnect features for published applications
The USB autoconnect features, including URI queries, command-line options, and group policy settings, now apply to published applications as well as remote desktops.
  • Block multiple instances with group policy
You can use the "Block multiple Horizon Client instances per Windows session" group policy setting in the Horizon Client Configuration ADMX template file to prevent users from launching multiple Horizon Client instances during a Windows session.
  • Windows 10 Fall Creators Update support
Horizon Client now supports Windows 10 1709 SAC (Fall Creators Update).
  • URL content redirection with the Chrome browser
URL content can now be redirected in the Chrome browser. To use URL Content Redirection with the Chrome browser, you must enable the VMware Horizon URL Content Redirection Helper extension for Chrome.
  • Fingerprint scanner redirection
With the device bridge feature, you can redirect biometric devices, specifically fingerprint scanners, that are plugged into a serial port on the Windows client system to virtual desktops, published desktops, and published applications.
  • High color accuracy with VMware Blast
You can use the VMware Blast High Color Accuracy option to allow increased color fidelity when using H.264 decoding.

Resolved Issues:

  • No known issues were resolved in this release.

Horizon Client for Mac OS X:

New Features:

  • VMware Blast network recovery improvements
The VMware Blast network recovery feature has been improved to be resilient against transient network failures by providing network continuity to remote desktops and applications. Applications and desktops will seamlessly resume on network connection resumption.
  • Session Collaboration
When the Session Collaboration feature is enabled for a remote desktop, you can invite other users to join an existing remote desktop session, or you can join a collaborative session when you receive an invitation from another user.
  • Skype for Business
You can run Skype for Business inside a virtual desktop without negatively affecting the virtual infrastructure and overloading the network. All media processing takes place on the client machine, instead of in the virtual desktop, during Skype audio and video calls.
  • DPI synchronization
The DPI Synchronization feature ensures that the DPI setting in a remote session matches the client machine's DPI setting. When you start a new remote session, Horizon Agent sets the DPI value in the session to match the DPI value of the client machine.
  • Touch bar enhancements
If the Mac has a Touch Bar, you can use the Touch Bar to interact with remote desktops and published applications. You can also use the Touch Bar to add or disconnect from a server, or connect to a recent remote desktop or published application.

  • Drag and drop text and images
You can drag and drop text and images from the client device to an open application in a remote desktop.

Resolved Issues:

  • If you use a local certificate for server authentication, authentication sometimes fails and an SSL error occurs.

Horizon Client for iOS:

New Features:

  • VMware Blast network recovery improvements
The VMware Blast network recovery feature has been improved to reconnect and retransmit lost data across transient network failures, providing network continuity to remote desktops and applications. In most cases, applications continue to work after a brief pause. For applications that are time sensitive, VMware Blast gracefully shuts down and restarts.
  • Derived credentials
Using Purebred to create and deliver derived credentials to your device, you can then use the derived credentials certificate to connect to your Horizon server and authenticate to your remote desktop.
  • Drag and drop text and images
You can drag and drop text and images from the client device to a published application or an open application in a remote desktop.
  • Drag and drop server, desktop, and application shortcuts and URIs
You can drag and drop server, desktop, and application shortcuts to another application to generate a URI. You can drag a server name or UI to the Servers page to connect to a server.
  • Face ID authentication
You can use Face ID authentication with Horizon Client on devices that support Apple Face ID.

Resolved Issues:

  • No known issues were resolved in this release.

Horizon Client for Android:

New Features:

  • Multiple sessions
Horizon Client supports multiple remote desktop and application sessions when you use a Chromebook or an Android device in DeX desktop mode. You can switch these remote desktop and application sessions.
  • Drag and drop text and image files
You can drag a text file or an image file from local storage on the client device to a published application or an open application in a remote desktop and drop the content of the file into the application.
  • Multi-monitor mode on a Chromebook client
With a Chromebook client, when you maximize a session window in the internal display, a new window opens and is maximized in the external display and the session enters multi-monitor mode. When you restore the window in the internal display from the maximized state, the window in the external display is closed and the session quits multi-monitor mode.

Resolved Issues:

  • If you launch a remote application and then change the resolution (either by rotating your device or manually changing the preference setting), residual application windows can remain on your screen after you drag the application window to a different location.
