New Features:

Horizon Connection Server

  • Horizon Help Desk Tool
    You can use Horizon Help Desk Tool to get the status of Horizon 7 user sessions and to perform troubleshooting and maintenance operations.
  • Authentication​ 
    The Recursive Unlock feature unlocks all remote sessions after the client machine has been unlocked.
  • Workspace ONE Access Policies
    You can configure Workspace ONE access policies in Horizon Administrator to enable end users to log in through Workspace ONE to access their published desktops and applications.
  • Instant Clones
    • Previously, the maximum number of monitors for an instant-clone desktop pool was pre-configured to two monitors.  Now, the instant-clone desktop pool inherits video memory settings, such as the number of monitors and resolution of the vCenter parent VM snapshot. Therefore, you have the flexibility to configure the number of monitors and maximum resolution of the pool on the parent VM snapshot.
    • The vGPU profile for an instant-clone desktop pool is automatically selected when you select the snaphot of the vCenter parent VM.
    • You can reuse existing AD computer accounts when the virtual machine names of new instant clones match the existing AD computer account names.
    • You can store instant clones on local datastores.
  • Cloud Pod Architecture
    • The total session limit is increased to 120,000.
    • You can configure restricted global entitlements in Horizon Administrator.
  • True SSO 
    You can configure LDAP URL filters for Connection Server to identify an AD user that does not have an AD UPN.
  • Connection Server Connections
    • ​​​Horizon 7 now supports 4,000 maximum simultaneous connections per Connection Server instance for direct connections, PCoIP Secure Gateway connections, and Blast Secure Gateway connections. Each Horizon 7 pod supports 20,000 maximum simultaneous connections.  
    • Horizon 7 now supports 4,000 full clones, instant clones, and linked clones per vCenter Server.
  • Virtual SAN
    You can now enable vSAN encryption capabilities for your Horizon 7 deployment.  
  • Published Applications and Application Pools
    • You can use Smart Policies to create policies that control the behavior of published applications.
    • You can add a tag to an application pool.
    • You can configure a published application so that an application session is launched before a user opens the application in Horizon Client. When a published application is launched, the application opens more quickly in Horizon Client.
  • Virtual Desktops and Desktop Pools
    • You can rebuild a virtual machine in a full-clone desktop pool if you want to replace the virtual machine with a new virtual machine and want to reuse the machine name. 
    • You can now select the Storage DRS cluster in addition to selecting individual datastores for an automated full-clone desktop pool.
    • You can choose to reuse existing machine accounts when you provision full-clone desktop pools.

Horizon Agent for Linux

Linux desktops now support the following features:
  • Client Drive Redirection (CDR)
  • USB Redirection
  • Audio output for HTML Access
  • Single sign-on on RHEL 7 Workstation x64 and CentOS 7 x64
  • FIPS 140-2 mode on RHEL 6 x64 and RHEL 7 x64
  • K Desktop Environment (KDE) on CentOS 6 x64 and RHEL 6 x64
  • RHEL 6.9 x64 and CentOS 6.9 x64

Horizon Agent

  • Skype for Business
    You can make optimized audio and video calls with Skype for Business inside a virtual desktop without negatively affecting the virtual infrastructure and overloading the network. All media processing takes place on the client machine instead of in the virtual desktop during Skype audio and video call.

Horizon GPO Bundle

  • ADM Template Files 
    The ADM template files are removed. Use the ADMX template files to configure group policy settings.

Security

  • Additional HTTP protection measures have been added at this release, including W3C recommended standards CORS and CSP. For more information, see the View Security document.
  • Horizon Agent and Horizon Client now support Local Security Authority (LSA) protection. 

Resolved Issues:

  • During a Horizon Agent upgrade, the Real Time Audio-Video component is deselected in an IPv6 environment. This is no longer the case. If you select the Real Time Audio-Video feature during a fresh install, then when you upgrade the component, it is selected by default. If you do not select Real Time Audio-Video during a fresh install, then when you upgrade, the component is deselected. If you want to install it, manually select the Real Time Audio-Video component during the upgrade.
  • In a Cloud Pod Architecture environment, an RDS host that contained a session in which a user had previously run an application was not reused for the same application. Now, users are returned to the same session, and sessions are better utilized.
  • Horizon Administrator incorrectly shows Windows Server 10 as the RDS host for a Windows Server 2016 RDS host.
  • Users in a domain configured with a one-way trust cannot update an expired password from Horizon Client.
  • After you install a replica server on a Windows 2016 operating system, the PCoIP Secure Gateway (PSG) service does not start due to contention for the control port.
  • After you install an enrollment server on a 64-bit Windows Server 2016 operating system, the enrollment server is not online and fails to list details. 
  • If a user never logs out from a virtual desktop, then Persona Management keeps writing log messages to the same log file and does not rotate the log file. This feature is available only with the ADMX template file.
  • Horizon Agent becomes unavailable with a FATAL error after you disable and stop the Windows Management Instrumentation service and restart the operating system.
  • Horizon Administrator shows a red status for vCenter Server even when the vCenter service is up and running in a cluster of Connection Servers. The incorrect vCenter Server status is displayed after you configure a valid signed SSL certificate for vCenter Server.
  • The zero client intermittently fails to connect to a published desktop when port B is the only display port in use.
  • When using PCoIP on Horizon 7.0.x desktops running Windows 7, you open a specific application, the application stops responding. This issue has been fixed in this release.
  • Persona replication no longer stops responding on Windows 10 1703 Build: 15019.1000.170121
  • View Composer fails to delete computer accounts from Active Directory when the computer has an MSMQ leaf object.
