Horizon Client for Windows:

New Features:

    • Support for Blast Extreme Adaptive Transport (BEAT)
      With the VMware Blast display protocol, Horizon Client for Windows uses TCP networking when it connects to a server or BEAT if the agent and Blast Secure Gateway (if enabled) support BEAT connectivity. You can select network condition options to use only TCP networking or BEAT networking.
    • Hide security information for enhanced security
      A Horizon 7 version 7.1 administrator can configure global settings to hide security information in Horizon Client for Windows, including server URL information and the Domain drop-down menu. To authenticate when the Domain drop-down menu is hidden in Horizon Client, you must provide domain information by entering your user name in the format domain\username or username@domain in the User name text box. 
    • Restart a remote desktop You can restart a remote desktop from Horizon Client for Windows. Restarting a remote desktop is the equivalent of the Windows operating system restart command.
    • Proxy fail over with PAC file in Internet Explorer 
      Horizon Client supports proxy fail over with the Use automatic configuration script setting under Automatic configuration in Internet Options > Connections > LAN settings in Internet Explorer. To use this setting, you must create an automatic configuration script (PAC file) that returns multiple proxy servers.
    • Resolution helper tooltip shows remote desktop resolution 
      If you drag a corner of the remote desktop window to resize it, a tooltip displays the screen resolution in the lower-right corner of the window
    • Unauthenticated access to remote applications 
      A Horizon 7 version 7.1 administrator can create Unauthenticated Access users and entitle those users to remote applications. Unauthenticated Access users can log in to the server anonymously from Horizon Client for Windows and connect to their remote applications. For information about creating Unauthenticated Access users, see the View Administration document.
    • Support for Microsoft Aero Peek 
      Horizon Client for Windows supports the Microsoft Aero Peek feature.
    • OpenSSL 1.0.2k support 
      The OpenSSL library is updated to version openssl-1.0.2k. 

Resolved Issues:

  • No known issues were resolved in this release.

Horizon Client for Mac OS X:

New Features:

    • Support for Blast Extreme Adaptive Transport (BEAT)

    • Touch Bar integration
      If your Mac has a Touch Bar, you can use the Touch Bar to interact with Horizon Client for Mac.
    • Touch ID biometric authentication
      If you have a Mac model that supports Touch ID, you can use Touch ID for user authentication in Horizon Client for Mac. A Horizon administrator must enable biometric authentication in Connection Server to use this feature. For information, see the View Administration document.
    • Upgrade Horizon Client online 
      You can configure Horizon Client to check for and install updates automatically each time it starts. You can also check for and install updates manually.
    • URL Content Redirection feature enhancements and official support 
      Previously, only agent-to-client URL content redirection was supported and the URL Content Redirection feature was Tech Preview in Horizon Client for Mac. Now, both agent-to-client and client-to-agent URL content redirection are supported and the URL Content Redirection feature is officially supported in Horizon Client for Mac.
    • OpenSSL 1.0.2k support 
      The OpenSSL library is updated to version openssl-1.0.2k. 

Resolved Issues:

  • No known issues were resolved in this release.

Horizon Client for iOS:

New Features:

    • Support for Blast Extreme Adaptive Transport (BEAT)
      With the VMware Blast display protocol, Horizon Client for iOS uses TCP networking when it connects to a server or BEAT if the agent and Blast Secure Gateway (if enabled) support BEAT connectivity. You can select network condition options to use only TCP networking or BEAT networking.
    • Hide security information for enhanced security
      A Horizon 7 version 7.1 administrator can configure global settings to hide security information in Horizon Client for iOS, including server URL information and the Domain drop-down menu. To authenticate when the Domain drop-down menu is hidden in Horizon Client, you must provide domain information by entering your user name in the format domain\username or username@domain in the User name text box. 
    • Restart a remote desktop You can restart a remote desktop from Horizon Client for iOS. Restarting a remote desktop is the equivalent of the Windows operating system restart command.
    • Widget support
      If you have an iOS 10 or later device, you can add the Horizon Client widget to your device's Search screen.
    • AirWatch integration enhancements
      An administrator can push default user name and domain information to client devices that are integrated with AirWatch.
    • Remember touchpad settings
      If you are logged in to a remote desktop when you change the touchpad settings, your touchpad settings are retained the next time you connect to the remote desktop or application from the same iOS device.
    • Support for App Transport Security (ATS) for enhanced security
    • OpenSSL 1.0.2k support
      The OpenSSL library is updated to version openssl-1.0.2k.

Horizon Client for Android:

New Features:

    • Support for Blast Extreme Adaptive Transport (BEAT)
      With the VMware Blast display protocol, Horizon Client for Android uses TCP networking when it connects to a server or BEAT if the agent and Blast Secure Gateway (if enabled) support BEAT connectivity. You can select network condition options to use only TCP networking or BEAT networking.
    • Multiple monitors with touchpad mode (Tech Preview) You can select the Multi-Monitor mode display setting in Horizon Client for Android to extend a secondary desktop on an external display. You can interact with remote desktops and applications on the external display with the onscreen touchpad and full-screen touchpad. You cannot use the physical mouse on the external display.
    • Immersive full-screen experience and system mouse icon support
      The Android status and navigation bars are automatically hidden in full-screen mode. When you connect an external mouse, only one mouse icon appears on the screen. The immersive full-screen experience requires Android 4.4 or later. The mouse icon feature requires Android 7.0 or later.
    • Hide security information for enhanced security
      A Horizon 7 version 7.1 administrator can configure global settings to hide security information in Horizon Client for Android, including server URL information and the Domain drop-down menu. To authenticate when the Domain drop-down menu is hidden in Horizon Client, you must provide domain information by entering your user name in the format domain\username or username@domain in the User name text box. 
    • Restart a remote desktop You can restart a remote desktop from Horizon Client for Android. Restarting a remote desktop is the equivalent of the Windows operating system restart command.
    • Remember the sidebar and Horizon Client Tools radial menu positionsIf you move the sidebar or the Horizon Client Tools radial menu during a session, Horizon Client for Android remembers the new location when you start a session on the same Android device.
    • Resolution options in one list
      Horizon Client for Android now displays the resolution options in one list.
    • OpenSSL 1.0.2k support 
      The OpenSSL library is updated to version openssl-1.0.2k. 

Resolved Issues:

  • You could not connect to the PCoIP Secure Gateway component from Horizon Client for Android with a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). This issue has been resolved.
  • You could not launch Horizon Client for Android from VMware Identity Manager on a Chromebook. This issue has been resolved. 

Horizon Client for Linux:

New Features:

    • Support for Blast Extreme Adaptive Transport (BEAT)
      With the VMware Blast display protocol, Horizon Client for Linux uses TCP networking when it connects to a server or BEAT if the agent and Blast Secure Gateway (if enabled) support BEAT connectivity. You can select network condition options to use only TCP networking or BEAT networking.
    • Support unauthenticated access to remote RDSH applications
      End users can connect to published applications using an unauthenticated access account with Horizon Client.
    • Hide security information for enhanced security
      A Horizon 7 version 7.1 administrator can configure global settings to hide security information in Horizon Client for Linux, including server URL information and the Domain drop-down menu. To authenticate when the Domain drop-down menu is hidden in Horizon Client, you must provide domain information by entering your user name in the format domain\username or username@domain in the User name text box.
    • Support restart of a remote desktop
      You can restart a remote desktop from the Horizon Client for Linux. Restarting a remote desktop is the equivalent of the Windows operating system restart command.
    • USB redirection support for remote applications 
      Locally attached USB devices can now be connected to remote applications.
    • Additional 64-bit Linux support
      Ubuntu 16.04 64-bit and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.3 64-bit are now supported.
    • OpenSSL 1.02K support
      The OpenSSL Library is updated to version openssl-1.0.2k.
    • VMware Access Point renamed to VMware Unified Access Gateway
      Beginning with version 2.9, VMware Access Point is renamed to VMware Unified Access Gateway. This change is not yet reflected in the Horizon 7 version 7.1 and Horizon Client 4.4 documentation sets.

Resolved Issues:

  • Input language synchronization using PCoIP method failed to automatically synchronize from Linux client to Agent.

Horizon Client for Chrome OS:

New Features:

    • Hide security information for enhanced security
      A Horizon 7 version 7.1 administrator can configure global settings to hide security information in Horizon Client for Chrome OS, including server URL information and the Domain drop-down menu. To authenticate when the Domain drop-down menu is hidden in Horizon Client, you must provide domain information by entering your user name in the format domain\username or username@domain in the User name text box. 
    • Restart a remote desktop You can restart a remote desktop from Horizon Client for Chrome OS. Restarting a remote desktop is the equivalent of the Windows operating system restart command.
    • Resolution options in one list
      Horizon Client for Chrome OS now displays the resolution options in one list.
    • OpenSSL 1.0.2k support 
      The OpenSSL library is updated to version openssl-1.0.2k.

Resolved Issues:

  • You could not connect to the PCoIP Secure Gateway component from Horizon Client for Chrome OS with a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). This issue has been resolved. 

Horizon Client for Windows 10 UWP:

New Features:

    • Support for Blast Extreme Adaptive Transport (BEAT)
      With the VMware Blast display protocol, Horizon Client for Windows 10 UWP uses TCP networking when it connects to a server or BEAT if the agent and Blast Secure Gateway (if enabled) support BEAT connectivity. You can select network condition options to use only TCP networking or BEAT networking.
    • VMware Blast uses the H.264 codec for enhanced stability and performance 
    • PCoIP display protocol is officially supported 
      Previously, the PCoIP display protocol was a Tech Preview feature.
    • Pin to the Start screen  
      You can pin a remote desktop or application to the Start screen by right-clicking the desktop or application on the desktop and application selection window and selecting Pin to Start from the context menu.
    • Support launch from VMware WorkspaceONE VMware Identity Manager
      You can launch Horizon Client for Windows 10 UWP from VMware Identity Manager.
    • OpenSSL 1.0.2k support 
      The OpenSSL library is updated to version openssl-1.0.2k. 

Resolved Issues:

  • When the Allow H.264 decoding option was enabled in Horizon Client, if you locked your client device after connecting to a remote desktop in Horizon Client, a white screen appeared when you tried to display the remote desktop after unlocking your device. This issue has been resolved.
  • When the Allow H.264 decoding option was enabled in Horizon Client, a white screen sometimes appeared when you launched a remote desktop. This issue has been resolved.
  • When a phone or tablet was connected to an external playback device (for example, a headset, display or speaker), sound came from the phone or tablet instead of from the external play back device when you used Horizon Client to connect to a remote desktop with the PCoIP display protocol. This issue has been resolved.
  • When the Allow H.264 decoding option was enabled in Horizon Client, remote desktops and applications did not rotate when you rotated your device. This issue has been resolved.
